George C. Hoff

Mr. Hoff has been with the firm since he began practicing law in 1977 as a city attorney, special counsel and litigation counsel. His current practice almost exclusively consists of representing municipalities and their elected officials, including both general representation and in litigation. Since 1986, Mr. Hoff has been handling complex litigation for client cities through the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust, specializing in land use, redevelopment, and civil rights claims. He has extensive trial and appellate experience, handling more than 350 cases for municipalities and their officials. Mr. Hoff also has extensive experience negotiating and drafting agreements related to property development and redevelopment. He is a frequent lecturer to municipal officials and in continuing legal education on municipal law matters and is a past president of the Minnesota City Attorney’s Association.

Mr. Hoff has been named a “Leading Lawyer” in Minnesota by the Guidebook to Law and Leading Lawyers and a “Super Lawyer” by Minnesota Law & Politics every year since 1993. He has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for municipal law each year since 2008 and honored among the Top 100 Lawyers in Minnesota since 2011.

Mr. Hoff is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and William Mitchell College of Law. He is admitted to the Minnesota State Bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
